On a recent trip to Portland we faced the dilemma, like so many who live in NE Oregon face, ‘do we face the congestion and grab a quick bite at Bigg’s Junction, or wait to eat once we get to The Dalles’.

I would like you to know Bulldog Diner has solved that dilemma for all of us.

Bulldog Diner is located in Rufus, yes Rufus, you have all seen the name before as you fly down I-84 at 65 mph thinking, ‘oh, maybe we should have stopped in at Rufus so we wouldn’t have to face all the traffic. For those of you who do not live in NE Oregon, some of us that do have a bit of an aversion for traffic, even the small amount that lingers around Biggs Junction.

Okay, back to Bulldog Diner. I must say we were so glad we stopped in. Both the breakfast and lunch menus are full of great items including the 18 Wheeler Omelet, the Chicken, Bacon, Avacodo Omelet, a 1/3 lb. Ten Layer Burger, as well as a Salmon Burger made with wild-caught Alaskan Salmon. The menu is full of items to please a variety of tastes and appetites.

The Bulldog Diner is hard to miss. Once you take the exit off of I-84 and turn toward town from whichever way you are traveling, continue staight after the stop sign and you will end up right in their parking lot.

Greg and Christy Lesh are the proud owners of Bulldog Diner.

Their hours are from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, other than Wednesdays. On Wednesdays the diner is closed.

I highly recommend Bulldog Diner. The burger I had was just delicious and I am looking forward to our next trip down I-84 where Rufus and Bulldog Diner will definitely become a regular stop along the way.
