Foster care has always been an important part of our personal lives and we wanted to find a way to make include it in our business. Back in 2016 we became foster parents for the first time. The children we had at that time were had high needs and I ended up quitting my job to stay home with them. I started baking for fun and before I knew it we had a full time bakery and Frost & Flour was born! Since then we have had 16 kiddos in and out of our home and have turned my love for baking into a flourishing business specializing in cakes, cupcakes and cookies.

Tanner and I knew we wanted to find a way to incorporate supporting foster care into our business. One day we had the thought of providing free cakes for kids in care. This program was started as a way to bless foster parents, make kids in care feel special receiving a custom cake from a bakery and to raise more awareness about foster care.  We decided to run with that idea and have since then given over 30 personal sized decorated cakes to kids all around our local area.

Recently we made a facebook post to get the word out about our offer and much to our surprise it went viral! Within a week we had 1000’s of messages, almost two million views and thousands of shares. We heard from foster parents saying how they appreciate the gesture, previous foster kiddos saying they would have felt so special to receive a cake, and dozens of bakeries asking how to start the program in other areas across the country. We even got messages from people in other parts of the world!

Our hope is that this inspires people to realize that there are so many ways to help kids in care and that small gesture is appreciated. Your talents big or small can have a huge impact!
