It never fails. It seems like I am always writing these letters at midnight, but until I am ready to go to print I just don’t know how I feel about the current issue.

Of course after putting the finishing touches on it, it is now 1 a.m., and I am almost ready to send it off to the printers, after one final proof in the morning.

There are a lot of great activities coming up during July and August that I talk about, or advertise in this issue. One of them being the Tall Ships that will be setting sail on the Columbia River during the summer, I can hardly wait to see these majestic ships in person, I even told my husband I might get brave enough to go out on the Columbia in our 16’ boat, just so I can get some once in a lifetime photos of them.

I find it so interesting that there are always great people to visit with about their business adventures. Richard and Theresa of Carson Ridge Luxury Cabins were very kind and we had a great visit as they showed me around the grounds that they recently purchased after months and months of searching for just the right place. Greg Hennes of the Jennings Hotel was also great to visit with.

Of course there are some more serious issues to read about in this issue including the start of fire season. It is that time of year when we all need to be a little more careful with our campfires, bar-b-ques and all outdoor activity.

Don’t forget to take some time to cool off in The Dalles Public Pool and Splash Park that is now open. And if your idea of fun is sitting down with a good book, my friends Rick Steber and Rinker Buck both have some great books about some current Oregon history that you might find interesting.

Thanks you for picking up this issue of The Gorge Business News, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy bringing it to you.

Enjoy your summer.

Sincerely,

Lori
